Finally, crossing to the front side of the dome, where it has been cut off you are presented with this view. A small bench like outcropping of rock right at the edge allows you to brace yourself behind it and peak over the top, looking nearly 5000' straight down! Not a sight or a feeling soon forgotten to be sure. This shot is taken from the top of that "bench." Just off the left hand edge at the rim of the valley is Glacier Point, where the overview pictures were taken from. Looking like models below are the camping areas and buildings on the valley floor that make up Yosemite Village.
