After about three miles of continuous climbing, we finally emerge from behind Half Dome at the crest of the Yosemite Valley. The valley floor is nearly 4000' below from this lookout point. This is an excellent oportunity to stop for lunch and a rest before preparing to tackle the final stages of the Half Dome hike.
